Every class is drawn from the same classical repertoire and taught in the same order; what changes between them is the apparatus, the pace and how much a teacher will add. Read the class descriptions before your first booking — they are written to tell you what will actually happen in the room.
Fundamentals
50 min · intensity 2 / 5
A first course for new clients, capped at six. The teacher walks the classical order from the hundred through to the side series, stopping wherever a position needs building rather than performing. Most clients take it two or three times before moving on.
What to expect
Frequent stops, hands-on correction and rather more explanation than exercise.
What to bring
Grip socks and clothing close enough to the body that a teacher can see it move.
Who it suits
Anyone new to Pilates, and anyone returning after a year or more away.
The studio's central class. Footwork through to the short spine and side splits, taken continuously with springs adjusted rather than the tempo. Booked most often three times a week by clients who have finished Fundamentals.
What to expect
Continuous work, little standing about, and a teacher who will change your springs mid-exercise.
The mat order taught against the tower springs, which makes the abdominal work heavier and the spinal articulation clearer. A useful class to alternate with reformer, and the one most often recommended alongside physiotherapy.
What to expect
Slower, more precise, and harder on the midline than it looks from the door.
What to bring
Grip socks. Nothing else needed.
Who it suits
Clients working on spinal mobility, and anyone under a physiotherapist's plan.
A single session on whichever apparatus suits the work — reformer, cadillac, chair or barrel. Booked by clients in rehabilitation, by dancers and athletes in season, and by anyone who wants the order corrected properly before returning to group class.
What to expect
An assessment in the first session and a written plan after it.
What to bring
Any relevant clinical notes, and grip socks.
Who it suits
Injury, pregnancy, competition, or a plateau in group class.
